What is Invention Festival?
The Invention Festival is a competition that aims to show and make students experience that science is an enjoyable and fun pursuit. This competition is based on the challenge to design a problem and challenge schools and students to design the device that best solves it. Schools then compete with their devices in a festival environment and the award winners are determined by measurement.
The Turkey leg of the Invention Challenge competition held in the USA by JPL NASA for middle-level schools is organized by Özdisan Electronics, which has taken over the organization and sponsorship.
2017 – 2026Paul MacNeal, the Organizer of the Competition from NASA, stated:
I started the JPL Invention Challenge in 1998 so that JPL Engineers could have some fun before the December holidays. I didn't really think that this event would become so popular among JPL employees, and ultimately that student teams from all over Southern California would even participate.
To date, more than 10,000 students have participated in the JPL Invention Challenge adventure, and among them are teams that participated in the Istanbul Invention Challenge.
The reason I organize this event is to show students that engineering is fun and exciting. Looking at the students who make it to the finals at JPL, they are fascinated by the possibility of one day becoming an engineer like the engineers who participated in this competition. One of our five goals at JPL is to 'Inspire Future Generations of Engineers.' I would like to thank everyone who has participated in our competition in the past.
I hope all participants can maintain their curious and inventive sides forever.
